What is WELLNESS?
It may be explained as a state of mind or rational physical and mental facts.
Numerous articles have been written about WELLNESS and how to build a better life. It all boils down to the simple, and most important, fact of an individual’s SENSE of WELL-BEING or simply to FEELING GOOD!
We are not always aware of what makes us feel good. Sometimes it just so happens that we suddenly feel good without any rational reason.
On the other hand we may also sometimes feel bad without any immediately obvious reason.
Our body may be on top in physical fitness but we may still feel lousy. Or, our body may be in a bad physical state but we may still feel good.
Our Two Minds
We have one conscious mind and one subconscious mind which are both taking part in controlling our lives and feelings.
The conscious mind is alert and reacts to everything our senses pick up from our surroundings, negatively or positively, whereas our subconscious mind is working in the background without our knowledge and/or control.
Many of the various things we face in our daily lives is due to what is going on in our subconscious mind, and it is working non-stop.
However, we are actually able to reach our sub-conscious mind as well, and can change many of our ways of behaving and acting/reacting to the world around us. I will come back to that another time.
Why You Feel Bad
You may feel bad because you are overweight, not enough money, lousy job, problematic marriage etc. etc. There are thousands of reasons why you may feel lousy and just as many reasons why you may feel good.
It may, or may not, have something/anything to do with one’s social-, occupational-, spiritual-, physical-, intellectual-, emotional-, environmental-, financial-, mental- or medical situation.
However, very often we are, at least partly, aware of what makes us feel good and what makes us feel bad and we are trying to find something/someone that makes us feel better.
Some “experts” are dividing WELLNESS into 6 – 10 issues:
SOCIAL
OCCUPATIONAL
SPIRITUAL
PHYSICAL
INTELLECTUAL
EMOTIONAL
ENVIRONMENTAL
FINANCIAL
MENTAL
MEDICAL
– wellness
All the above may have everything, or nothing, to do with an individual’s feeling of WELLNESS. Every human being is different in terms of any of the sub-divisions mentioned above.
There is no general standard for WELLNESS as it differs from one person to another and may also vary over time.
Happiness Is A Choice
Therefore, anything that makes YOU FEEL GOOD is contributing to YOUR WELLNESS.
What we will try to do here is to gather and forward information that may help YOU feel better, and become more HAPPY.
It is said that happiness is a choice, and I also believe that, but you have to learn how to choose that through proper education on the matter.
Any contribution to this end is welcomed as it may also help others feel better, and often, giving is more rewarding than receiving.
